Beyond the Bell

Our Beyond the Bell before and after school care program is offered for children in grades K-5. These programs provide an extension of the school day as we work closely with teachers to reinforce learning from the classroom. Our staff provide a balance of playtime and enrichment time for children. Whether your child is participating in a structured activity or free play, our staff consistently teach all Y children the Y values of caring, honest, respect, and responsibility by demonstrating and reinforcing positive behaviors.

Care During COVID-19

Throughout the pandemic, our Beyond the Bell program has adapted to meet our community’s greatest needs. We are working in partnership with the Mount Vernon, Burlington-Edison, and Anacortes school districts to provide full-day care and virtual learning assistance for school-age children. Sites include:

  • Rowley Elementary
  • Jefferson Elementary
  • Westview Elementary
  • Whitney Elementary

Beginning on January 1st, we are reducing our tuition by 50% for the 2020-2021 school year to help reduce the financial impacts that COVID-19 has had on families! Plus, we are excited to introduce a new P.E. program that will keep kids active three days a week at our Beyond the Bell sites! Learn more about the grant that is making this possible.

New! Physical Education Enhancement

We are excited to introduce a new physical education enrichment program to our Beyond the Bell program three days a week! One instructor from our sports team will be leading small groups of up to 5 students through their choice of physical activity. Children will choose between kickball, relay races, red light – green light, soccer freeze tag, basketball tic tac toe, and more! All participants will wear a mask and will be led outdoors by the same instructor each week to reduce exposure. By giving kids a healthy break to run around, we can improve their focus throughout the school day and reduce the effects of the pandemic on their mental health.

"It will be our pleasure to provide outdoor fun for kids who have been cooped up for far too long. We are excited to be able to provide activities that will not only help their motorskills and physical fitness, but will also teach them to work as a team."

Jacob Clem, Sports Director
