High School Basketball Clinic

High School Basketball Clinic

The Y is excited to bring collegiate level coaching into our facility for local high school basketball players looking to improve their skills in the current off-season. Our instructors Vic and Monique Woodward have extensive experience playing and coaching the game. Vic has over 30 years of teaching and coaching experience in public schools. He has coached at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in various schools in California, Idaho and Washington.  Additionally, Vic co-coached women’s basketball at North Idaho Community College whose teams secured four NJCAA region championships. Monique played locally at Skagit Valley College and went on to play Division II basketball at Seattle Pacific University where she graduated in 1992. Monique has coached elementary through college-age students and has a great love for the game. Both Vic and Monique have worked NBC camps, as well as led their own. It is their hope that these clinics will provide an opportunity for athletes to stay up on their game and also be encouraged.

Girls and boys will be split up into 2 separate groups. One group will be upstairs in the Wellness Center doing a basketball specific strength and conditioning workout while the other group will be in the gymnasium working on individual skills. After one hour the groups will switch locations and do similar activities.
