The Skagit Valley Family YMCA is one of the largest employers in Skagit County with over 170 employees across the valley. Teachers, fitness instructors, social service workers, lifeguards, and camp counselors are just a few examples of the types of positions we offer. Regardless of title, our diverse staff works hard to bridge gaps in our community by nurturing the potential of youth, improving health and well-being outcomes, and providing support for our neighbors.
Being an employee at the Y comes with great benefits for both part-time and full-time staff. Health insurance, paid time off, and a generous retirement fund are just a few examples. Today, we’re excited to announce additional staff benefits that reaffirm our commitment to supporting staff and their families. After all, the Y wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible people that come to work here each day.
Here are a few of the changes we’ve made recently in support of our hard-working staff members:
1. Increased Pay for Bilingual Staff
We live in a diverse county and often need to rely upon those who know additional languages for their translation services. To show our appreciation for all our bilingual staff, we increased base pay rates for these staff to recognize the added help they provide our programs.
Bilingual Oasis Youth Advocates are essential staff at our Y. Youth Advocates play a pivotal role in interacting with and caring for youth who take advantage of the Oasis Teen Shelter. We’re currently growing our Youth Advocate team – apply today!
We’re proud of our front-line childcare staff across all our sites, which is why these staff will receive a 50% discount on all childcare programs, which include our ELC sites, School-Age programs, and summer camps.
Like many businesses across our county and across the country, we face staffing shortages in our childcare sites. We’re currently hiring for several positions at our numerous sites, including School-Age Teachers, ELC Teachers, program supervisors, and a Childcare Executive Director. Learn more about these positions and apply here.
3. Household Memberships for all staff
We’re excited to announce that part-time staff will now receive a family/household memberships, joining our full-time staff in receiving this benefit. We think it’s appropriate to recognize and accommodate all our staff members and their families.
